How do I register as a seller on GeM?
Registration happens on gem.gov.in under Seller registration: you verify the authorised person with Aadhaar or PAN, enter the business's PAN, GST and bank details, choose the business type, and then complete the seller profile before listing products or bidding. Have the documents ready first; the process is a form, not a negotiation.
Before you start
Keep these at hand; each is asked for and most are verified against government databases:
- PAN of the business (or of the proprietor).
- Aadhaar and mobile of the authorised person; the mobile receives OTPs.
- Bank account details and a cancelled cheque.
- GST registration certificate, where applicable.
- Udyam certificate if you are an MSE, and DPIIT recognition if you are a startup.
- For companies and LLPs, the incorporation certificate and a resolution naming the signatory.
The steps on GeM
- Open gem.gov.in and choose seller registration. Verify the authorised person.
- Enter the business details: type, PAN, GST, bank account, address.
- Complete the seller profile: turnover declaration, MSE or startup status, and the product categories you intend to offer.
- Where a category requires vendor assessment, apply for it before you can list or bid in that category.
- Once the profile is complete, you can list catalogue products and respond to bids.
Where iBid.Win helps
The Company Portfolio keeps every document above in one place, reads the GSTIN, PAN and validity dates out of the files, and tells you which bid documents are missing before you start a bid.
Frequently asked
How long does GeM seller registration take?
The form itself takes under an hour if the documents are ready. Vendor assessment for categories that need it is a separate process with its own timeline, set by GeM.
Do I need a Digital Signature Certificate for GeM?
GeM works with Aadhaar-based e-signing for most sellers. Where a Class III DSC is required, the portal says so at the step that needs it.
Can one person register two businesses?
Each business registers separately with its own PAN. One authorised person can be named for more than one seller account.
